lunch! – the UK’s premier food-to-go trade show – has reported it is 40% up on pre-registered visitors compared with the same time last year.
Thousands of trade buyers and senior decision-makers from the out of home food industry have already pre-registered for this year’s show, which returns to London’s Old Billingsgate later this month on 30 September-1 October.
The show has enjoyed rapid growth in its visitor numbers since its launch two years ago, factors attributed to this significant visitor boost include: lunch 2009’s record figures of over 2,500 attendees (with a combined spending power of £2.5 billion); a prestigious Best UK Trade Exhibition award from the Association of Event Organisers at their Excellence Awards in June; a considerable increase in exhibition space up onto the venue’s mezzanine level – making way for a brand new Innovation Marketplace featuring 24 cutting-edge companies; plus, of course, and perhaps even more importantly, overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth.
Carsten Holm, Managing Director of the show’s organiser Diversified Business Communications UK, commented: “What’s perhaps even more impressive than sheer numbers alone is the exceptional quality of the attendees planning to visit. We’ve got key buyers ranging from Harrods and Fortnum & Mason to all the major supermarkets and multiples, as well as the leading contract caterers, wholesalers and distributors. In addition, a large number of specialist caterers have registered to attend, including many universities, hospitals, airlines, attractions and so on – plus, of course, hundreds of quality independents. And we are still four weeks away from opening day. Anyone and everyone within the grab and go market is going to be here. It’s going to be a very busy show!”
lunch!’s breadth of appeal is demonstrated by its incredible range and high calibre of prospective attendees, representing companies from right across the entire food-on-the-move sector. Whilst the majority are from the UK and Ireland, a small percentage of visitors will be flying in from all over the world; from as far afield as Turkey, Portugal, Norway, the Netherlands, Latvia, Italy, Iceland, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Nigeria, Australia, and the USA. The following is a small sample of the type of companies already planning to attend:
Aramark BaxterStorey BP Charlton House Catering Compass Group EAT Elior UK Fortnum & Mason Harrods Harvey Nichols House of Commons Marks & Spencer Ocado Pret a Manger Rail Gourmet UK Ltd Royal Navy Royal Brompton Hospital Royal Armouries Royal Society of Arts Sainsbury’s Shell Sodexo Starbucks Subway Thorntons Waitrose Welcome Break ZSL London Zoo
In total, nearly 150 exhibitors will take part in lunch! 2010, where they will demonstrate the widest array of fantastic products, services and technologies, to over 3000 industry buyers from all the major food-to-go chains, supermarkets, contract caterers and quality independents.
